I have a p2 266 a 16meg voodoo banshee and 160 megs ram...

I have 2 gigs left on the partition BG is on.

The game ran great till in the tutorial I am looking for the saphire. As soon as I get down in teh basement 5 gibberlings come at me and totally slow me up. Computer really goes slow. This is in software mode. I have BGconfig and I have it set for "below the reruirments" on the setting tabs even though mine barely exceeds them. I dont mind not having 3d accel or whatever. But Im not in that Im in software and it still lags when those 5 gibberlings come for me. Is there any settings to improve how fast it goes? I tried to improve the cache to 500, was 300. Ive tried turning off EAX and didnt notice any performance difference. I also tried 3d accel but that made it worse.

What should I do? Up the framerate slider? its at 20. Patch search nodes(what is that?) are at 8000, enable enhanced pathfinding?

I can run the original BG fine except for my cursor problem. With everything turned off in BG2 it should run just like BG right?

I run it on my P200 (even slower). Remove background music, weather effects, decide if you really want some of those graphics options

Thanks. I changed Tiles Precache to 100% since I have so much memory. It helped a little. If anyone else has anything else. Let me know.
