Okay... I lost my oldsavegames & started from scratch... have reached chapter 6 but i never had to fight those harpers way back before travelling to spellhold, Jaheira was never approached by an old friend (or who ever it is) and then another old friend hasnt kept popping in in Chapter 6 asking questions to her like what happened when I first played the game... have i screwed up somewhere and If I did can I rectify it ???

Have you rescued the man that was injured and returned him to the harper stronghold?

No no....when you wake up your party will be surrounded by approximately 4~5 bandits, and in theory one of them is holding a knife behind Jaheria. This incident usually occur after you wake up from resting outside in the wilderness (e.g. Umar Hills area). This is one of the trigger for the Harper Quest.
