Why are the evil guys so powerful? EXAMPLE=
Edwin gets 5 slots in the lvl 6 at lvl 12.
Korgan can destroy anything with frostreaver, (he killed kangaxx by himself)
Viconia spells are interesting.

Why are they so tuff?
Good guys are saps compared to them (except Minsc)

IMHO, I think it's cuz there are so few of them...

If you want an evil aligned party, it's you, and those threee you mentioned.
Also, it encourages you to try them...

Yes and no. Minsc is just as tough as Korgan. Anomen can gain cleric levels as fast as Viconia. True, Edwin may be the toughest mage - so? Aerie has more spells than him because of being multi-class

IMHO evil kicks goods A$$ in the game.

Korgan can Grand Mastery while minsc cant.
Viconia is a better cleric being a pure class.
Edwin gets more slots in the mage thing.

Anomen isn't multi-class. He's dual-class, which was why I said he'd rise in levels just as fast

Edwin gets more slots because of his amulet, but it doesn't put him up to the number of spells Aerie can get. However, he has access to higher level spells earlier, and he is the only NPC mage that can learn all levels of spells

So if i used shadow keeper to get rid of his Edwins amulet, he would lose spell slotz?

Edwin's also a Red Wizard of Thay (or was) and this contributes to his greater spellcasting capacity.

Why would you want to disadvantage yourself and remove his amulet? He's the only pure mage NPC in the game.

I suppose the key to these NPCs strengths is that they are all single class. Some single class good & neutral NPCs are fairly powerful too - eg Minsc, Valygar, Mazzy, but there aren't any good single class mages or clerics, so no comparison can be made with the evil ones. I suspect they would be as strong as Edwin & Viconia if they existed!

The nearest to a single class good mage is Nalia as she only dualled at level 4 and IMHO she rocks (if you can put up with the whining). She doesn't get as many spells as Edwin because she is not a specialist mage & doesn't have his amulet. But she is still powerful - kit her out with robe of Vecna and bracers AC3 and she will be one of your most useful characters.
