Can left objects disappear in this game? I thought I was finished with all the keys I was carrying around from the windspear hills quest, so I left outside the cabin before leaving town. That way--or so I thought--I know where they are in case I need them again. I now realize that I need the sewer key, but i can't find the keys I left. am i just not looking hard enough, or can these things just disappear?

Indeed they can, if you leave objects out in the open they are very likely to dissapear after a short while, in order to leave something somewhere you must put it in a container if you hope to come back to it later.

Some people say that you can pick the lock on the sewer door but if you cant then download shadowkeeper and give yourself the key. As for the dissapearing items the missing item gnomes come after a day and pick up anything left on the ground.

As far as I know from my own experience, those items left on the ground are lost forever. May be all those trolls and goblins hanging around like our items so much and take them away.
But you can store keys and other things in some chests - all staff will be there when you come for it.
