Possible spoiler!
. . . . . . . . . .I am in the Nine Hells and am stuck in the Test of Fear. I keep losing at least one of my party members to those damn Beholders. And I mean their portrait goes away so I can't resurect them. Of course I think it would help if I had some idea where in there the Tear of Bhaal is. I've looked but can't find it. Please feel free to spoil me. I'm so close to finally finishing and am hung up on this stupic thing. ------------------ Reeka--The Hand of Death O_H_F Lady in Waiting (found what I was waiting for) Official Party Planner and Events Coordinator of the Moon's Hope Inn Proud Member of the Ladies Guild GMDLM http://publish.hometown.aol.com/tobb...ages/reeka.jpg [This message has been edited by Reeka (edited 04-28-2001).] |
Chances are if the party member is gone, they were turned to stone. The character screen turns them gray, like they are dead, but you can't resurrect sounds like flesh to stone.
< spoiler > . . . . . . . . . . You don't need to fight the Beholders. Give one character a potion/spell of invisibility (preferably a thief), haste everyone, cast resist fear on the party, have the thief check for traps and go around the other way (avoid the beholders). The tear is in the back and if you are quick you can grab it before the beholders attack. ------------------ Most Subtle Official Straightman of the Laughing Hyenas -- Grammarian Brigade. |
Hi Reeka, could you please put spoiler spaces in front of your post, so that others who haven't gotten to that point in the game aren't spoiled by the info. I know that in your case it wasn't intentional! but I don't want you to start getting abused for it. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/No...iles/smile.gif
OR, I can do it for you, if you want. ------------------ http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/memnoch/genwalk.gif http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/memnoch/memname.GIF |
The Tear should be hidden in some odd-looking crystal-shaped formation past the twin corridors. Pause the game and perform slow sweeps of the mouse over the screen to find the blue item-box crystal.

Tancred: Thanks for the advice, but I've looked around in there, and I don't remember any twin corridors. Am I missing something? You can go to the right and encounter the Beholders, or go to the left and set off the fear taps and the whole thing makes a cicle. Could you please clarify?

At the back of the two paths there is a collection of crystals on the end of the dividing wall, the tear is there. If you have the cloak of mirroring and a charm protection helm or green stone amulet put them all on one person and send them alone to the creatures (turn off the AI if the other try to follow or attack the eye tryants.) or (I haven't tried this) cast protection from fear on a party member and sent them the other way.

OK, I just reloaded my final save and re-did this...
Take whichever character is wearing the Boots of Speed, and send him/her through the South corridor. Go PAST the chest, along the South wall, toward the back. At the back of the cavern, you will see some crystals. When you get close enough, you will be able to use them (the circle arrows type thing), when you do that you get the Tear. Note: you cannot find the Fear Traps, either with thieving ability or spells (at least I couldn't) I don't know if a resist fear spell works or not, I just stealth and run! (I used an Archer) I did hit the traps, and ran around for a few seconds, but came to and got the crystals... Let me know how it goes! ------------------ http://publish.hometown.aol.com/tobb...s/rudedawg.jpg The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes [This message has been edited by RudeDawg (edited 04-28-2001).] |
Resist fear does work for protecting you from the traps. If you have the cloak of mirroring you might as well wack the beholders for experience too.

Personally speaking, I was able to defeat the Beholders no probs. I had a few charges on my Fireball wand left, and I decided to use them all in a fit of ennui.

Thank for all the help, guys. I got through it last night, thanks to you. I did have to kill all the beholder, though. Got so excited, I went and picked up 2 more tears after that one. Now I just have to fight Sarevok and the final battle, wish me luck!
