Does anyone have a list of all the game's combat modifiers? Are there bonuses for attacking from behind, or from the flank? What about invisible, or hiding in shadows?

I have an elven ranger with strength 13, and he's specialized in short swords (+1 to hit, +2 damage). I attacked someone today with a +3 short sword and my attack roll was 8 + 11 = 19. Someone please tell me how on earth my combat bonuses are getting so high.

By my count, he gets +1 for being specialized, +3 for the sword, and maybe +1 for an elf using a short sword (I'm not sure if the game gives elves +1 w/ short swords). That should be +5 tops. How the ■■■■ did it get up to +11? It wasn't my favored enemy, and I didn't have any spell bonuses.

Bump. Anyone? If nothing else, does anyone know if elves get a +1 attack bonus for shortswords (I know they do for longswords)?

What level are you at? As you level up you may be eligible for additional bonuses, THAC0 gets better I know...
Also, high Dex and Str scores get additional bonuses as well...

If you were "stealthed up" at the time you would have gotten an additional +4 added to your attack. High DEX wouldn't help you with a melee weapon like a short sword, but it could be that you got a bonus for using a piercing weapon against a certain type of armor.

I ain't too much up on all this but maybe if you posted all your guys stat's and the weapons name & stat's ie 1D6 +3 then someone will break it down properly for you. There are guys like Accord, Ramon, Tobbin (these 3 just sprang to mind) and many others that could tell you the break down straight off. As it stands your info' is slightly vague. You may be wearing stuff that gives combat bonuses, who knows. Give as much info' as possible and I'm sure you'll get an answer.
