Is it possible to change these?

alexwc4 04-06-2001 02:28 PM

yep, this is ripped from page 11 of your BGII manual:

APPEARANCE
Select a portrait for your character. To import a custom portrait, you
must follow the instructions below:
The measurements for player portraits are 38X60 pixels for the small
ones (8-bit color only) and 110X170 pixels for the large ones. Create a
directory called Portraits (including the capital "P") in the root directo-ry
where you installed BGII: SoA. The default is C:\Program Files\Black
Isle\BGII - SoA. You will have to add an S to the end of the small
portrait name and an L to the end of the large portrait. The names
must be 1-7 letters long, maximum.
For example:
XXXXXXXS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
XXXXXXXL.bmp for large (110x170, 24-bit)
For multiplayer, each player must have a copy of the portraits,
otherwise they will see a silhouette with a question mark where the
other player’s custom portraits would be.

Please correct me if I am wrong but these instructions seem to be intended for the PC. I am wondering if it is possible to change NPC portraits. For example if I wanted to change the portrait of Minsc or Airie (sp?), could I? Regardless, thank you for taking the time to reply!

You can change them if you hack 'em by using Shadowkeeper.

Are you playing it on a mac or something?

Walnutbutter,

When I write PC I am making reference to the Player Character.
When I write NPC I and making reference to the Non-Player Character.
I did not intend for "PC" to be considered hardware. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. Next time I will try to be less obfuscative (sp?).

Use Shadowkeeper:

if you don't want to use shadowkeeper to change your npc potraits change your portrait bmp name to naeriem.bmp for the large portrait and naeries.bmp for the small one. this will change aeries portrait the next time you play.
