Charisma is your friend:
------------------------

So what does Charisma really get you? Well if you have a low charisma you
may not be able to get NPC's to join you, if you pass a quest, the treasure
may not be as good as it normally would be, (or there may be no treasure at
all!) and shops WILL charge you more. So don't skimp out on the charisma.

On the other hand, you only need ONE PERSON with good charisma, and it
needn't be your main character.

I don't think it affects the amount of trasure you find. It affects the way NPC react to you though......

That is a bit daft. There are things I can see as being useful benefits of high charisma such as:

The ability to talk an individual into giving you a bigger reward
Talking down the price of certain things (these 2 were more relevant in BGI)
Cheaper prices at stores
NPCs more likely to join/stay with you
NPCs less likely to suffer morale failure

Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

OK. Imagine these two scenarios...

'I am an Orc. I am drinking some beer. Oh no! Here come some Heroes! Better charge forward and fight them. Gee, that guy in the lead is a cool dude. What a hairdo! He's killed two of my friends, but I don't mind. What a joy to fight this guy. ARGH! He's cut me in half with a stylish backhand swipe! What a guy... I hope he puts my gold to good use. Urk.'

Now:

'I am an Orc. I am drinking some beer. Oh no! Here come some Heroes! Better charge forward and fight them. Sheesh, that guy in the lead smells. Couldn't he have worn some NICE clothes? Hey, he's killed two of my friends with an underhand backstab! I HATE this guy! ARGH! He's cut me in half when I wasn't looking! What a scumbag! Right, with my dying strength I'll throw what little gold I have into the river. I hope all the others do the same. Urk.'

Scientific proof! Charisma really does affect your gold income.

Tancred, that was great! I had to laugh. I bet that IS what they think as our blades sink into their bodies. Punks.

I copied it from a walkthrough. It is probably wrong though, or else the gamemakers have done a really strange thing.

I am playing the game through the second time. Both times I have had Minsc in the lead, but this time he has a ring of charm (charisma set to 18). I thought I was getting better treasure than last time, now I know why!
