Hey All,

Quick question for anyone who has used familars...what do they do?
Do you actually get hints from them in the form of speech?
Curious, what kinds of animals have folks familarized and what do they think of them?
Any help would be appreciated, am looking to replay the game after I've finished the first time (have a shapeshifting Druid now,) and was thinking of using a mage mainly because I like the idea of having a familar with me...like Boo.

Thanks Much,
Bunny Foo Foo

They are good hitpoint bonuses for mages, don't over look this.
Some can be good pickpocketers, scouts, trap finders....they also add more depth to the game. Just don't use them for close combat, please. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...miles/wink.gif

I have never played a mage so I don't really know what they do

But I do know that you get extra hit points from them. Some can cast spells. You can use them as 'scouts' b/c unlike summoned creatures, the fog of war is dispelled whereever the familiar goes. And, like 666 said you do lose 1 point of constitution if your familiar dies.

If any of this is incorrect please correct me anybody!

Exactly as Accord said, and they are damn useful, particularly the Rabbit http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif very fast so when you cast invisibility on it, it makes a great scout http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif

They are also good fried with a little white wine sauce (red for the Rabbit), lightly basted on Gas Mark 6. Serve with fries in a McDonalds bag

For complete familiar stats, write the spell to your book and read the spell description. It tells you what familiar you get(based on alignment), and their abilities

Yes, only magic casters like mage, sorcerer and bard can have familiars.
