last time i played around with shadowkeeper, i stumbled across the wild mage kit (i believe it only became available after i downloaded a patch... at least i hadnīt been aware of it before) and i wonder if it works for SOA or if it will not function or worse, do something unspeakable to my game.
if it works, can soemone point me to a table with wild surge effects? |
The wild mage is a kit that comes with ToB. It will allow the mage to cast spells like crazy. Havent tried it myself, but I think you learn some new spell, which will allow you to cast other spells wild.
see ya! |
Check the ToB manual for specific effects of wild surges, butthe wild mage is a specialist mage with no opposition school, he can use every spell in the game and gets an extra spell per level, in addition anytime they cast a spell the computer "rolls" a d20 to determine if your effective spellcasting level changes, (ie as a 7th level mage you could get a +3bonus to your level, so you would launch 5 magic missiles instead of 4, or have your fireball do 10d6 instead of 7d6)
overall it's an awesome kit, and making it rain cows is one of the funnies things i've ever seen in the game. |
nahals reckless dweomer always worked in soa... but since just giving yourself it essentially turns you into a sorceror on acid without any drawbacks, i wondered if the wild mage kit (selectable with shadowkeeper) was fully active with all the pros and cons...

oh, and i donīt plan to buy throne of bhaal... i got annoyed enough with the power inflation in SOA, and also my system canīt deal very well with massive battles of which i expect there will be more in TOB
