Is this worth doing? I have tried it several times and can't seem to kill everyone without dying.

Yes, it is definitely worth the effort. Have you tried luring the creatures out one by one? The're much less difficult that way and if you're lucky, you can even quicksave when you've killed the first one, heal up and then lure the next one out.

Have you tried to actyually use the rune?
I can't remember clearly but i recall that the fight was quite easy

It is very easy if you use scroll of protection from undead on some of your characters. You should also have the shield of balduran on one character.

Isn't the Twisted Rune in the Bridge District? I kinda thought that you were "locked in" the room with the creatures thus preventing you from luring them out singularly.

Wow, it's still fresh in my mind from this afternoon,what a battle! With five in my team including my ranger Cleric whose racial enemy is Lich,we were pretty busy!,It took me about six attempts though.
I suggest turning off the script and nursing them through it bit by bit,i had my r/cleric cast silence'radius which didnt seem to work,Jahiera summoned some critters,and we hid away in the corner whilst trying to dispose of the Lich ,and Beholder and warrior guy.Powered up on spells and hasted/Vhailors helm,Horn of Valhalla,ring of the ram,we just anxiously sat through the two timestops hoping we'd all be there afterwards.Got there in the end.
....don't leave anyone with nothing to do.

BTW, What is a Magister?
