Just finished Icewind Dale!
I know that BGII has a lot more magic-using enemies than IWD.
So, Im thinking of making a party of halflings, gnomes, and dwarves.
Halflings have insane magic resistance. My halfling fighter/thief in IWD very rarely didnt save vs spell http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif)
But how do dwarves and gnomes compare in the magic resistance department?

Wow. Never tried the racial advantages. I had a Monk that ended up with 78% magic resistance through class bonuses and a +10% Amulet.

"Can I touch it?"
"No. It can't be played"
"Can I look at it?
"No we've seen enough of that one....."

Wow. I didnt think about the monk.
78%.. wow.

Wonder how my party would fare with a monk as the only melee fighter.

Hard early on, but later I cruised with him as the only 'Tank' a lot of fun to play. Can hide in shadows and detect traps (but can't disarm them) Doesn't need weapons, but can use them if you want special abilities of course, and moves around like he has boots of speed on once he gains a few levels.

I definitely reccommend the monk. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

There are plenty of good items with magic resistance on them.
At the end of the game my palladin had 85% magic resistance.

You also get 10% of some necklase, 5% from ring of gax(i think) and an additional 10% at the end of the game.

Sorry the 78% was the Monks natural res. BEFORE applying amulets etc. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif

Back to the original topic, dwarves, gnomes etc ARE NOT magic resistant. They get lower saving throws, which is VERY different
