What are the highest resistances you managed to get this far?
My pally got 85% magic resistance!!!!
Holly avenger 50%, 10% at the end of the game. 5% ring of Gax (i think)and another 10% from some necklase.
In another game in maneged to get about 125% fire resistance!
I'd like to now you're records.

I'm not sure about any records, but try using Viconia, just for the fun of it. She already has high MR of herself. Try equipping her with all the things you mentioned and then make her cast a few Armours of Faith.
Let uys know how high she gets OK? Also, wizard slayer kits gain magic resistance as do monks, so you'd have a headstart with those as well.
I do remember my Korgan being completely immune to fire, must indeed have been around 125%. He could stand right in the middle of a fireball and not scorch a single hair of his beard!

Two rings of Fire Resistance (one 40%, one 50%), 2 helms (one +20% to all 3, the other +25%), Shield (+25% I think)
Dragon armour +lots more fire resistance

The highest MR were the items you mentioned worn by Viconia (who has a natural 60+% MR to start with)

I believe viconia only has 50% and since she can't use the HA or gain the aditional 10% she could never get above 75%.

Does resist all also aplies to magic or just elemental damage?

Not sure what you mean by elemental damage/magic, but yes, there is a difference between
Magic Fire and Normal Fire, same goes for Cold.
I.e. your resistances can be
Normal Fire: 100%
Magic Fire: 25%

You're right, Viconia starts at 50%. But shea gains about 1 or 2% per level afterwards, too, if I recall. And you can wear heavy item if she wears one of the strength-bossting items (I gave her the Gauntlets of Ogre Power). With this, she can also use the Flail of Ages
