How did you pick you´re first class ol the back in Baldurs Gate 1.
When i first looked at the palladin i knew that this whas my class.
Did the same thing happen to you or did you just picked the one you thought was most powerful?

I picked paladin in BG1 since I want a decent fighter with decent hitpoints. He also have additional class abilities and saving throw bonus (not to mention the simplicity of using him), making it an attractive class for a beginner.

Really i didn´t pick the pick the paladin because of high hitpoints, saving throws and abilities but because i like being the noble hero who fights for honour, justice and... a little bit of items and coin.

My instinct is always to go for a Cleric, though I have also used a pure Mage, and tried out almost all the classes for short periods of time. I have found, though, that the most useful, is to start out as a figher, and allocate Attributes that make the most of both Fighter and Cleric traits, and Cleric Weapons skills. Then, as soon as Imoen has said her piece, I Dual to Cleric. I find this a VERY good combination, 'cos I want Figher talent, but am not comfortable with a pure fighter.
