I have had Yosh in my party for the whole game and he is pretty effectice when it comes to picking locks, finding traps, setting traps, etc. but is not effective fighter at all. I have run across Jan Jansen and played with him a while. But I wasn't too thrilled with him either..I'm thinking that I just haven't figured out how to effectively use either one of these guys. Any thoughts on Jan and Yosh. Who should I keep and what are there major advantages?

No spoilers please!

it all depends on you party. for me, I played a fighter heavy party recently. I had 4 fighters, and Jan's thiefing/magic skills helped tremendously from time to time. I disliked Joshimo, because he couldn't cast spells. and disliked Edwin, because he cannot find traps and remove them (a lot of exp indeed) and Jan's dialog is just funny!!!

This is one that depends on personal preference, but have you checked out Yoshimo's fighting skills properly? He IS a BLADE! Have you used his Offensive Spin? Or his Defensive Stance? If you don't use these skills, then yes, he is only an average fighter. I prefer him to Jan, myself. And his Identification skills are pretty good, even though less than a regular Bard. I think he is a useful team member.
However, there are a number of other people available to take into your team if you want a change! http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

Actually, Yoshimo is a Bounty hunter, Haerdaelis is a Blade, and Edwin is the best mage in the game.

They're not supposed to be good fighters, they're THIEVES. Use them accordingly. Yoshi can set good traps and Jan can cast some decent spells, it's up to you which you prefer. If you already have enough magic users in your party, go with Yoshi. You didn't want to be spoiled so I won't but I'll just say that storyline-wise, it's a very good idea to keep Yoshimo!!!
