http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...les/mad111.gif If things continue on like this I will memorize everything that is installed and when! There is always something wrong with this game, I always end up uninstalling it and putting it back on- but something else gets messed up- such as: I just reinstalled it to fix a crashing problem when I went to Umar Hills, but now whenever an instant death spell is cast it crashes to the desktop. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-.../angryfire.gif

http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...smiles/wow.gif what's your computer I had that problem with my older computer (it was p200) so it might be worth it to lower the game's graphics to a minimum. Or maybe it's an application problem my win 98 sometimes crash while runing Bg2 in the weirdess sound bug. The game will stall on a sound of someone talking...

Oh yeah, my specs.
P3 450 MHz
Voodoo3 3000 AGP
48x CD-ROM drive
hmm....what else?....
I don't know of anything else that's important, other than I use win98

I was having some lockup/Blue Screen Of Death problems trying to run the 3d effects mode, and when I turned them off in the setup, my problems went away. I would try that first if you have the effects enabled.

I didn't really notice any major benefits, cosmetic or otherwise, for having the 3d turned on, to be honest.

Other than that, I would say to make sure you have all the newest drivers installed, particularly for your Voodoo and Sound cards.

Incidentally, how much system RAM do you have?

I also had that problem and the game quit to the desktop on the same place in the game several times but after testing several time I could go on... now i HAVN'T HAD THAT problem since I downloaded the patches on inerplay...but it was quite anoying

I don't understand how some people can have constant problems while others appear to be perfectly fine. I didn't have any problems myself. The only bug I experienced was the Jaheira love bug and the Thieves guild bug, both fixed by the patch. You DO have the patch installed, right? If not go to www.bioware.com and download it.

Sir Markus is also right about the 3D effects. Flick them and see it that makes the problem go away. You might have an issue with your Voodoo - suggest you email Bioware with your system specs.

I just use an IBM Thinkpad Pentium II 233 MHz with 32k of RAM and it works fine.

I haven't had any major problems. Only crashed twice both after loading a saved game. Don't think it has much do do with spec. I have a :-

P1.166
32 Meg of Ram
4 MB Graphics card
8 MB 3D card(not used)
1.5 GB install

Although most effects are turned off exept for magic effects. How ever it does crash when I click on select all if I tell it to use my 8 MB 3D card.

Since I have the patch and am not using any 3D, I'll E-Mail them. Thanks for helping

I had a problem with constant crashing myself... I would get a hard freeze. Yes, I loaded the games a few times and yes, it still had problems. Oddly enough, after some *testing* I found that the shortcuts were corrupted just enough. I went into the game through the start/programs menu and had no problems. Redid my shortcuts and my game doesn't crash. (I was reloading my entire operating system as well, had some 98 problems.)

I did go through customer service and they did try to help, but in the end, it turned out to be a combination of 98 acting up and then cleaning up the shortcuts. Let me know how it goes for you.
