Hi all,
I am currently playing my elf fighter/mage/thief (solo), and have come to chapter 4, to the Asylum. When I come to a vampire named Dace, I backstabbed him, and he died immediately, but there was no fog coming out. I tried to use a wooden stake on his coffin to kill him for good, but nothing happens(??). As I recall, I need his hand, and a crystal to get out of the Asylum. I have the crystal, but not his hand. How do I get that hand? Is the shadowkeeper really necessary?

Either Shadowkeeper or reload, although you can also create the "hand" using the CreateItem console cheat.

If you have not already tried it, go back to Dace's study. His apparition should appear and ask you to end his eternal damnation (or words to that effect). Only after this can you stake his coffin & get the hand.
If the apparition does not appear it could be a bug
Or it could be there was some dialogue that should have happened which you never got because of killing him with one backstab.

1. Talk
2. Negotiate
3. Fight

And you'll be find, don't just kill everything that you see (although when facing tough creatures, you might wanna buff up before engaging in the "Talk" part..)
