A questions for you techies of the board:
Whenever I try to open the Item list or Spell list in SK (I have the latest version 1.6.1 I think) I get an error message saying:
"An error occurred while accessing an unnamed file" or something like that.
Then the Item/Spell List opens but there is nothing in it! Could this be a problem due to the custom items I downloaded recently?
I haven't tried reinstalling SK from a new download as I figured if there's a problem with a buggy downloaded Custom Item then reinstalling won't help. Can anyone think of a solution?

In know I've gotten similar errors when running multiple programs. If you are running IEEP (Infinity Explorer Editor Pro) or BG2 at the same time as Shadowkeeper, the spell and item files might be in use from one of the other programs.

If you're running Shadowkeeper and only Shadowkeeper, then I'm not sure.

Sounds a lot like you may have your custom item in the wrong directory. Have you checked this? I've read about your problem too Father Bronze, but for some reason, I don't seem to have this problem. It will usually tell me a file is open rather than something like a file not found. Hmmmm.....

Melusine 02-27-2001 01:34 PM

Father, no I'm not running any other BG-related programs

Tobbin: I'm not very good at this sort of stuff: I follow the instructions, but I don't know WHAT exactly I'm doing
The items that I downloaded that had an .itm extension I just put into the override folder directly. I used Infinity Explorer to import the .iap and ?.tgb (not sure about sp) files. Could I have screwed up somewhere along those lines?

Melusine, if you have the game open or active when you try to open shadowkeeper, it will not work, you must save and exit bg2 before accessing, or it cannot access bg2 resources. I have had no probs, but i have v.1.411, and as i have learned from napster, i absolutely refuse to download newer versions of programs i have that are working perfectly fine- caveat nil emptor!!!

In which directory did you install Shadowkeeper? It may be possible that Shadowkeeper just can't find the spell/item list.

Melusine, it sounds like your Shadowkeeper install didn't go according to plan because SK isn't indexing your BG2 resources. If you have the zip/exe file you may want to reinstall it and create a folder for it. You may need to configure it to point to your BG2 folder (it should normally find this on its own).

With custom items, especially ones with TBG and IAP extensions you need a program like Infinity Engine Editor Pro to import the TBG files into your override. If it's just an ITM file you can copy directly into your override but it won't have any text. Sounds like you did the right thing.
