Could someone please tell me the significance of the forest areas on the map (ie. North Forest, Forest of Tethir, etc.) the ones outside the elven city in chapter 7 - there only appears to be one sub-quest associated with that part of the game (the Wolfwere sub-quest) - otherwise it seems like a totally waste of time. Maybe I have missed something while playing the game but to me it seems like those parts of the map are completely useless.

Someone please let me know if I'm missing something on there.

thanks,
Eddith

Two major quests:

1. To prevent the ants from getting to the teddy bears jam sandwiches

2. Escort Red Riding Hood to her granny's cottage

No, I don't know either

At least the 'useless location factor' is lower than in BGI.
OMG! All those houses I robbed for 3 gold and a book!
All those wildernesses I traipsed round to kill a couple of goblins!
(still loved it though!)

It's nice to resee Coran though
eventhough he dies
Fucked up basterd

Other than your little friendly (or not so friendly reunion with Coran, depends how things played out), there are no other sub-quest along those forest area.
You do get to crawl in a cave, loot couple of tombs, and do a lot of killing over those forest maps....

The areas are there to give you experince, to pervent your character from being killed by all the nasty monsters near the end. Oh and to give you money to buy really good stuff to us to kill the nasty monsters near the end.

The outdoor areas were what made Baldurs Gate great! It's supposed to be a 'wild area' with only a few towns such as Baldurs Gate, Beregost and Nashkel. The freedom! wandering around and seeing the sights, breathing the fresh air!. lovely

It's OK Patriarch, I was only kidding!
I quite liked that feeling of not knowing whether there were any major quests at the location, or if it was just "mister, please find my dog/cat/brother" (delete as appropriate).
I was, and still am, an enthusiastic but slightly obsessed BGI fan!

Oh god Epona, don't remind me! I read all those damm books expecting to find something useful! I wonder if Charlie has a library section in his Shoppe of Shyte?
