Was looking at the stats screen and some of my characters have minuses under Armor Class Modifiers. Is this bad? Yes, I did read the manual, but don't feel like looking for the answer in there. One of my characters Aerie, who I just picked up, has a minus under armor. I guess my question is - should there be any minuses on the stats screen at all. Thanks. I just love all these fast responses here.

Minus for armor class is good, remember you start off at "10". Aerie got -'ve armor class modifier since she has got relative high DEX at 17, so it should be -3 (or a base of 7) before any further adjustments from magical items and armor.

The same goes for stats such as saving throws, -'ve saving throw modifier reduce your overall saving throws.
Items that would be nice to have +'ve modifier would be THAC0 and damage, also hitpoints per level modifier. There are others too, these are just some examples. Please correct if I am wrong. |
Haha, Accord, you beat me to it!

Minuses are a plus.

Won't all the new games have 3rd edition rules that are all positives? We rolled some pcs for pnp last night and used the char creation disk to make sheets for 'em. I couldn't understand why the mage's ac was almost = that of my paly. Then I realized that I hadn't put on any armor. Oops. Just wanted to share that.

Yes, in the new 3rd edition, AC goes up, not down. It is actually a hybrid number of your stats and the actual AC. No more -10 AC. Well, unless something really messes you up I guess. LOL
