Hi,

What is a good D&D 3rd edition rule book? I'd like to buy one for reference when playing BG2.

Thanks.

BG2 runs on 2nd edition rules. Not sure where you can still buy that version, e-bay maybe

Yes, but it does include many edition 3 rules such as new classes and kits. As far as I am aware there is only one book and that is the official one from TSR.

All kits are in the complete rule book of any classes in 2nd edition. Like berserkers are in the Complete Fighter book. They is kit in classes complete book and others in racial complete like Blade singer ( super fighter-mage kit )Are only available for elves so it is in the The complete book of elves. they is the Monk in the Complete Cleric book and fighter too, Samourai is in the fighter, berserker in the fighter, Barbarian and Dwarves complete book. Barbarian has is own book with other kits inside. They is over 20 complete I think .. We got them all .. I don't have money anymore

Yeah, it's been a while since I bought a 2E book, but it was ridiculous how many add-on books they had. Obviously, players can pick and choose which book to buy, but with a name like "Complete X Handbook", you've "got" to buy it. I suspect TSR was so busy writing all these books plus the various campaign books that they were losing money. Probably why they had to sell out to Wizards of the Coast.

Yea, all those Complete this or that books got ridiculous. I bought a few but didnt like them that much. Also some of the kits got way too powerful. Especially if you took a dwarf kit and used the fighters handbook. It seemed like every time you went to the bookstore there was a new one.
