Soon to be making a signature with an anim gif I am under the impression that having it(the animation) on my hard drive isn't enough. Will I need to upload it onto the internet to incorporate it in the signature?

Yes you have to upload it over there. There are lots of sites (like yahoo) that offer this service. Then, when you have it in the net, you should write this in your signature to get it:

[ img=yourimageadress ]

without the spaces of course
