I heard a while back that someone asked if certain items were worth lugging around, and one of them was Neb's head.
One person answered that it was of no use, so toss it away.

Just before the fight with Neb begins, Jaheira (if she's in your party) reminds you that this Nebbo was quite a nasty piece of work, killing of children in the city of Baldurs Gate (BG I), and that he was wanted by the authorities. Well... I took a shot in the dark and went to the government district (council house) and asked around. Hey... 2500 gold and +1 rep..... not too shabby.

Well.... someone has probably allready said this, so I'm the bringer of old news.... but I figured since one or two people said to throw the head away... then maybe many of you did.
