I still don't know what to do with the spelljammer in the NE of Ust Nasha (drow city). He's not spoken of in most walkthoughs and my original message concerning him in this forum seems to have disappeared. Hope someone out there know if it is possible to travel between dimensions in BG2, or if it is impossible even to wander around the Underdark for more than a month.

Reminders: The spelljammer's NOT related to the lich quest, nor does he sell the rope to gain access to the Derlex (something like that) tower.

BTW, another mentioning doubt, though I haven't really searched deeply for this one: what can be done with the Lathander stattuette(misspelled?) that is on the church's safe box?

Please, answer this post. The spelljammer reminds me too much of that f...ing mr. shade from BG1, which made me replay the game carrying *everything* to see what could trigger a decent dialogue.
Best Regards
SCORPIO

Hi scorpio

Apparently he has no quests and only figures in the game as "filling", I posed the same question.

You ain't gonna hang about for a month and you'll be gutted if you did so for zilch. Forget him and carry on. You can't return to D.C once you've left.

Alternatively.... To prove it to yourself why not hole up in a pub, save game and do a Rip Van Winkle impression for thirty odd days, then go back and see him. Let me know if he sorts anything out for you.

Technically the only dimension travel in the game is planar sphere, or a few portals here and there.....I don't think the spelljammer have any specific purpose relating to the main quest. (I am not too sure, but this is what my past experience told me)
Also, I don't think it is possible to wander in drow city for more than a month, since the quests there are time specified/constrained. But before you ever enter into the drow city, I am sure you can wander in the general Underdark map for quite sometime.....but why?

Hi Accord.

The Spelljammer asks for your help but says his ship won't sail for another month.

Thanks Charlie, several times I decide to shoot first and ask questions later, I guess there is a flaw in that tactic.

About the Lathander statue... SPOILER ??

- When you infiltrate Mae´Vars guild, first he asks you to do a mission for him. It may be stealing an amulet from a Talos priestess OR stealing this statue from Lathanders temple.

About the guy you talk about, im not sure if we are talking about the same guy, but i think its the guy with long (and empty) conversation found in the splurging sturgeon (or it was the blushing mermaid ??). The "trade" he talks about are the Golden Pantaloons that you can get in the Friendly Arm inn.

scorpio 02-02-2001 05:55 PM

Yeah, that´s right man, and he gives you very little experience to counteract the fact that you have to keep the pantaloons until you get to BG.

About the statue (BG2 now ), thanx, I had the other task in my game, so Im now with one doubt only. At least the title of the thread remains correct.
