Oh and the Ale is on me, the Five Flagon's is my Bard's hold.

I took a comparatively low-level party into Windspear, didn't think much of it til I did the battle with Firkraag the sixth time. Thought I'd bought the farm again, when Minsc and Keldorn both died, but kept throwing spells and just when I was sure Big Red was going to fire breathe us all to oblivion: he up and croaked! I think the summoned creatures (aeral servant and such) helped finally do him in, but a last minute Melf's Acid Arrow from my pc may have done the trick too.

Man that was tough! Ok, I know some of you have posted how easy this one was for you, but my level 12 Skald had a party of all 9's and 10's to work with!

Now, can anyone tell me about that lovely pink/red sword from the tomb (dragonslayer? or somesuch?) It appears to be a +2 and I couldn't seem to get Minsc to do a spec of damage to Big Red with it. Finally switched him to Lilacor. So what good is a dragonslaying sword that doesn't do a single hp of damage?!

Was the character you equipped it with deficient in that weapon? Did you equip it in your off hand? I've played with it before and was disappointed also, but it did do some damage. Maybe you're character's stats were too low.

Cloudbringer 01-30-2001 09:37 PM

Well, turbovee, it was Minsc and I don't think he has longsword proficiency, come to think of it. You think that's what happened?
Sheesh, I am sooooo glad I don't have to do that battle over again just now, but I'll keep it in mind with my other game (got two running) where the pc is a fighter and she has longsword proficiency.

"Hell Lich" Wah 01-30-2001 09:57 PM

I dualled it with adjatha the drinker +2 and got my fighter to smash him into oblivion.

Now where that's person who said that BG2 was easy and not challenging............hmmmm.

....ahhhh what the heck! Yah! I WHUPPED the overgrown lizzard! yipeeeee! Thanks for the round of cheers!

It DOES feel good. Maybe now I'll go back after that Shadow dragon I ignored. Any tips?

***Oh and I attacked Firkraag before he could speak, so does anyone know WHY that sorry excuse for a dragon wanted me there and lured us to the estate?

Malla Gabriel 01-30-2001 10:12 PM

Congulations, ye old red is dead. May many victories follow.
as for why he wanted you there, revenge for your Pa, beating the 8 hell out of him.
.
Wah are you refering to my odd things in the game thread.

turbovee 01-30-2001 10:17 PM

That dirty bastard wanted to get revenge for something Gorion and the Harpers did to him ages ago and you were the target. He wasn't going to do anything but ruin your reputation. Nonetheless I still stuck it in his big scaly behind!

Cloudbringer 01-30-2001 10:21 PM

My thanks MG and turbovee, guess I missed the badguy speech by wailing on him first, but I KNEW my low-ish level party didn't have a prayer if I let him see us first!
