OK, I've tried twice with two different characters (Iomen and Edwin), and every time I cast the scroll "Find Familiar" I get the message.. "...only the Protagonist..". What's that all about? Do you have to be of a certain discipline?
|
As far as I can tell only the main character ( i.e. "you" )can have a Familiar.
|
That's right. The 'protagonist' refers to the main character.

You can only cast the familiar spell if you are the PC (your character). I've started a game as a skald and cast the spell, got a little Psudo-Dragon. Wish I could name it! It only has 24 hit points, but you can tuck it into your backpack for safekeeping if necessary.

Alls I can say is that whoever thought up letting us use find familiar should have gotten a raise. Then again, whoever forgot to code in to have the familiar follow you when you leave off of a screen/area, should be fired. Man, I cast find familiar and went around half the game before I realized I had left Lockheed (yeah, I used to work there too) back in the starter dungeon. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH. I guess it was my own fault. I didn't keep up with him, but still . . . I thought he was in my backpack the whole time and never gave it a thought. My poor little Pseudo-Dragon, left to fend for himself in that dank place.

Pseudodragons are supposed to be fairly good. Their regular attack still stuns enemies for three minutes, right? And dammit, Tobbin, that image is mesmerising me. : P

Well, you have Jon to thank for the pic. He helped me get it to work. God, I am so dumb. I didn't know that I was typing it in wrong. I didn't use the brackets. JEEZ, I felt so stupid. That pic is a place holder til I can get something worked up though. I loved the spell effects in Torment.
