i hardly ever use spellcasters so here comes some questions:
1. Are sorcerers any good and if not, why?
2. Should i go with a dual, multi or specilized mage
3. If i go specilized what school?

1.I love the sorcerer but the only problem is you have to really think them through, once you pick a spell for them you can't get any other. Other than that they are great.
2.I have never dual, multi or specilized before but I hear the kensai\mage is supposed to be great.
3.no idea, never tried.

I hope I helped.

i made a sorcerer once but i could only choose spells up till level 5 (i think) what happends after that?

bocaj 01-14-2001 04:06 PM

Well when you level up you should be able to pick new spells but unlike the wizard you can't ever change what you picked.

Artea 01-14-2001 04:08 PM

how many times can you cast each spell? and how many spells per level can you choose?

bocaj 01-14-2001 04:22 PM

Well the number also goes up when you level but you do get to cast more per day than mages.
you get a set base number for each level of magic. example:
you have three first level spells A B C and you can cast 7 first level spells per day.
Well you can cast A three times, B three times and C once or any pattern like that.
As for how many spells per level you can choose... it goes a little something like this.
at level 9 you can choose 1 level 4 spell and 2 level 5 spells and at level 10 you can choose 1 level 5 spell and 2 level 6 spells. Now that was just an example I am not 100% positive on how it goes.

i find that multi class is better....sure it takes a little longer to progress but...you can defend yourself and not get skewered if your in close combat situations....plus...once you get high enough level.....or get some decent spells, you cast some spells that affect their status(ie;timestop, pword stun, fireshield, arid's horrid wilting etc....) ......and then when they are incapacitated...you can strike with your blades/swords and tear them to pieces!(Mine took on the last 4 demonds on by himself without flinching at about 16th lvl in each!)

no problem I am always happy to help (ouch my head hurts from all that thinking)

I don't like sorcerers much. They get six memorisation slots in pretty much every level, but they can't memorise spells from scrolls. They get to choose which spells they want when they level up. This is all fine, but in the later levels you end up with a mage who only has two level eight spells to select from.

Multiclass mages don't work, they don't even get level seven spells. Dual or specialist, depending on what you want, but never dual from a mage, there's no point. If you want a good mage from the beginning, make a conjurer or necromancer. Better still, get Edwin, he gets more memorisation slots than any PC mage ever could.
