My method for name generation is to use combinations of your last name and or your mothers maiden name.

For example my PC 'Deceaux D'or Wathy' comes from my girlfriends mothers' maiden name (Deceaux) and my maternal grandmothers' maiden name (Wathy).

The D'or thing is swiped from forgotten realms.

I "steal" names from fiction.

For example, Saithana is the name of my BG1 and BG2 character. In the Winter of the World series of books by Michael Scott Rohan, Saithana is a goddess, the daughter of Niarad Sea King, the god of the ocean.

A long-time p&p AD&D character of mine was called Caladan, after the home planet of the Atreides family in the Dune series of books by Frank Herbert.
