There is a shadow jailor who has the key and drops it when you kill him. If you rest and his body disappears, you lose the key! He is right outside her cell and challenges you with a "you shall not free the masters consort" or something like that.

Mazzy rocks by the way, well worth getting. A lot of players bag her, but I found her a solid useful fighter, loyal interesting character, and had a few good sidequests/dialogues as well.
