Does anybody out there still play MUDs???

I used to play a mud called Tempered Steel. I think it is down now, but a year or two ago it had hundreds of members. Ahh, memories...

muds lived and thrived in the bbs days, but with the advent of AOL and other isp's, most muds were overshadowed by the popularity of role playing chat rooms. there are still a few bbs's up, and a few great muds are up and still being improved/developed, but the final death blow will be with the wave of massively multiplayer games that are soon to come out. i hope the crew working on never winter nights gets the communications aspect of the game right, it will be one of the few games that will have a huge online community to explore without needing to play $10 a month via a credit card.
