After dialup the game comes up with this SetPixelFormat failure and dies. Whats going on?

I'm running BG2 on a P2 350 with a VD2 3000 3DFX card and 128Mb ram.

Are you using alt-tab at all or have other apps running in the background? BG really does NOT like to be alt-tabbed. Occasionally I forget (usually after a long time when I haven't saved). Even though you can't get back to the game (get the dialog error box) you can still hear the music - what I normally do is quicksave then end task on the game. No easy way back for me, perhaps others have more insight.

I've had the SetPixelFormat failure a few times, usually caused by running other programs at the same time.
I find that pressing Alt+Enter twice - once for Windowed mode and then once again for Fullscreen mode usually works for me. Hope it helps.

I too have this failure after Alt - tabbing. I then press Ctrl, Alt and Delete and tell the pc to End Task for BG2. I then get a small window that pops up and asks me if I'm sure I want to quit because "Boo will miss you" I then hit no and it returns me to the game. Very occasionly it will tell me an error has occured in BG main and it dumps me to desktop but about 90% of the time it will return me to the game without problems.
