if u used shadowkeeper or some thing it some times stuffs up the game so all u have to do is u go into the file where u have BG2 then u click on 'saved games' and delete the file that says something with a number in a bracet like autosave(00001).sav i think

How did you cheat the gem into your inventory? Using CLUAConsole or a savegame editor. You'll have to give a lot more detailed information than the above. I have absolutely no idea what you did. Please provide specifics.

(smacks Krille upside the head) You need to put quotes around the item. Like ("MISC9R").
