I have tried importing my char but i seem to loose all the cool stuff that i have found before. In BG 1 you could import you char and keep you stuff is there any way to do this is BG 2

That is just part of the game...you were imprisoned, and the bad dude sold alot of your stuff (that you can find in town). A few of your goodies are around to be just found, though...
Believe me, I was just as irritated...I loaded my char. up with everything I could from my entire party to export into the game, and it did not work like I wanted it to....(You can always justify yourself, and use the hack to make your items appear, as though you had found them again !!)

You can also start a multi-player game and import your characters AFTER the initial screen start. Just save your game after it starts, then quit out and re-start. Load game and then drop your character and add in the one with the stuff. Not everything will transfer, but some items will make it. It just starts the game with no stuff. Doesn't mean you can't go in later with stuff.
