I'm in the Umpani Base Camp and I ............. can't seem to get into any of the buildings because the entrance-sidewalk is too high....... I'm serious here people, my party will just bump into the sidewalk and won't enter the building. Is this supposed to happen? And if so (highly unlikely), where do I go from here?

Update: I managed to get into IUF recruiting center after exiting and re-entering the base camp. But now after the training course, same story and this time its even harder to get in :S

Some steps in the game have not been designed particularly well. Try taking a bit of a run up to them and make sure you're going straight towards them. Sometimes trying to enter at an angle will make you bounce off the step.

Also check your encumberance, some players have reported having the problem, when we found they were loaded to the max and suggested dumping some stuff on the ground, and try again, they were then able to "climb" the steps (is this attention to detail by the Wiz8 programmers or what!).

I had the same problem, and solved it by running rather than walking to the step up at the entrance (as xfactor also suggested).

yeah, running into them will cause you to kind of jump when you hit it, with any hope, landing on top of the step.

By run I mean holding Shift while you walk, or whatever the default run key is.

Wonderful! The running with SHIFT did the trick :D And I only play on normal diff. :D

Similar issues at the Temple in SE Wilds - took me some time to figure out how to climb those spiral staircases! I always get stuck on the stairs going to Marten's Bluff, too
