Hi,
I decided to start a new W8 Game with Flame's Mod. Expert difficulty. Again with my party that didn't reach AP in the past ( Rogue, 2 x Fighter, 2 x Bard , 1 x Gadgeteer , no NPC ). ( BTW : Great work , Flamestrike ! ) I think, this time my party will have a better time on the roads because of the new Magic Missile tool my gadgy could create in the monastery. In my games before the mod I only had the Piercing Pipes for the bard and the additional bombs I found in the monastery. Havn't done much yet , only searched the first level of the lower monastery. I hope I can sell some of the Foamies to Burz , so I can buy some more important items from him. I'm curious what other things are hidden in Flame's mod. There's some nice new items in the Upper Monastery as well. Hope that's not too spoilerish? Yes, Flame's mod has made Wiz8 even more fun, if that was possible. Just to say that a Felpurr Ninja is now my new favourite character. You'll find out why! |
The mod is a superb addition to the game, and you have plenty more goodies to come:
Armour and weapons for the rogue Weapons for the fighters Gadgets coming out of your ears! There are a couple of additional instruments too. But, and I hope this isn't too much of a spoiler, if you've ever wanted to try a lord then now is the time. It won't be obvious why at this point, but give it some time! |
Bladedog is right, next time choose a Lord.
Also, if you have a Fighter, concentrate on Maces. You'll thank me when you find, arguably, the best weapon in the game (IMHO). The Lord, Valkyrie, Ranger, Priest and Bishop can all do excellent damage with it but the beserk damage of the Fighter makes it even more powerful. Once again, apologies if this is too much of a apoiler but I didn't want you to come across it and be frustrated because nobody in your party could use it. Oh, you need a STR of 90, Mace skill of 50 and Artefacts skill of 35 to use it by the way, so not really viable for the Priest and Bishop perhaps? |
Foamies are too cheap to do any good selling.

Have at least two people concentrate on throwing, there are some great thrown weapons you will want to use. And yes a lord would be a wise choice.

Update to my "Game with Flame". My party marched easily to Arnika. No Problems. Before Flame's mod I only had the Dracons breath and the Piercing Pipes for those giant groups of highwaymen. Now I have also the Missile Launcher and the Horn of Prometheus. Even a group of brigands with poppies had no chance against my lvl 8 party. Arnika was easy, too. Now I'm standing in the Monastery after I opened the tomb, ready to visit the Umpani. There are lots of new items but many of them are useless to my party. I'm quite sure that, after I reached the circle, I start a new game again to play with other professions. I found a mirror with the Return to Portal spell and I hope there will be an item with a Set Portal spell too. My party has no magic users and such an item could shorten the looooooong distances a bit. I also found bones of the Tanika Fish in the monastery ( forgot the name of this thing ) and I'm curious what it's for. The chum from the fish is used to make a potion. There is another part to it found in the swamp I think.
