I can't get my Faerie to quite whining about wanted the Zynaryx Plate. However, I have not run into any Venom Crabs and I don't see the computer sending out any against my level 10/11 party. Am I SOL or is there some way I can get my hands on one of these?

Sometimes you encounter some at the arnika road (near the monastary). There is a fix encounter in Bayjin, but thats a while later.

I didn't get the encounter on the road...so I guess I'll have to wait.

You can take the road to the monastary every time you are in arnika. Maybe some will show up later. At your level, usually not alone, but together with a group of tougher crabs.

I have had the same problem. Tried many times to get one near Monastery at later levels without success. If worse comes to worse, they are almost always present in Bayjin, near the cave mouth.

I have cruised back and forth by the monastary...closest I came was a couple of groups of crusher crabs.

I'll just find my way to Bayjin.

For me, there is always a group near the destroyed space ship in Bayjin. But where you meet them depends on the way you walk (i go straigth north first).

I got me some venom crab shells. Thanks everyone. I'm now using the one surviving crab for stealth/shield/reflextion training.
