Hi.
Is anyone here using WINE to play under Linux? I can't get it running here, "wine wiz8" seems to do nothing and "wine 3dsetup" tells me "No useable 3d devices found in the dll directory". There once was a thread about wizardry and linux here, but the Instructions there didn't help. P.S.: I both tried the latest Wine CVS (20040914) and the one from last month without success. :( |
Hi, I guess that was my homepage http://www.pipsfrank.de/Computers/wine.html ? What part isn't working, care to give details, I'd try to help you...
First guess, you do realize that you need to do "wine wiz8.exe" to get something? And that you need a no-CD crack, so you'd have to say "wine wiz8_nocd.exe"? Do you have 3D support in Linux set up, what's the output of glxinfo and glxgears? Just guessing, let me know if you want me trying Cheers Philipp |
Hmpf, seems like the problem was simply and only caused by running "wine d:/wizardry\ 8/wiz8.exe" instead of cd'ing to "PathToD:/wizardry\ 8/" and then running "wine wiz8.exe" there.
Using the first call he didn't find the dll's in the wizardy 8 directory. |
And now it's working? Fine I'll add that to my hints list...

Not realy fine since the dri-driver dies for my current kernel/driver combination, but this is no wine/wizardry problem. Without hardware accelleration it works, but veeeerrrry slowly
\But "start it from the directory you installed it to" should definitely be added to the hints section, since most other programs work for me without having to start them inside their directory. |
