I'll try to post this without giving anything away, even though from reading other posts, I gather the non-combat way around Bobo in Trynton is well known.
When I try to use the non-combat way to get into Bobo's cage, sometimes Bobo just wanders around in circles for five minutes or so. All during that time, other entities in the area keep moving (i.e., many Trynnie patrols pass by, and other occupants of cages move around), but my party cannot move and I cannot even check status of characters. Eventually, the non-combat method takes effect, and I can get into the cage -- but it takes quite a while. Any idea what is causing the problem or how to avoid it? |
The game just forces you to stand in one place when it is playing a cutscene (Bobo eats meat and then falls asleep). It's not a bug and I think there is no way to avoid this.

Yes, it's happened to me and once, after some time had passed, I assumed the game had frozen so I re-booted.
I try not to kill Hogars, has anyone else noticed they have such wise looking faces? Regretfully, sometimes I have no choice of course. Although someone on the VN Board tells of when his little boy saw a Hogar and asked why it was smiling. Nice little story I thought. |
Sometimes Bobo just doesn't come to the food for a long time. In effect, you wait for the cutscene to start. I think the time you spend there isn't worth the 500 xp you get. But then, during sleeping, you don't get xp too.

I don't even bother going in there anymore.

Tried the Faerie Dust on meat and gave up. Now we wait for Trynnie Champions and then open lock. They handle him pretty easily. We join in at the end.

Why don't you just kill Bobo the old fashioned way. Take down that hogar cowboy style.
Any old Hogar is easy to kill, if ye know the tricks. All you need is a good dose of paralyze and you can be eating hogar stew in moments. It works for me at least. And who can't resist killing the hogar. They are so tough and intimidating, that you get the urge to kill it. There is nothing more satisfying than bringing a hogar down |
Tyros, do you have problems with the game lagging at all? That seems too long for the cut scene to play out. Mine usually goes in a few moments, but I usually plop the stuff in when he is near the trough. It takes less than a minute from dropping the tidbit to getting the bonus pop up window which I click away immediately and then go in the cage.
Edit to forewarn of spoiler Spoiler below: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Why not just unlock the door first? I usually do. Standing at the corner on the same side as his food dish I remain close to the corner of the cage. Unlock the door, close it again, drug the meat, toss it in the trough, then go in and grab everything while he naps. Not because we can't kill him, but because we CAN sneak past him. Flamestryke: the only other lag time I ever see is (i) Chief Gari after I've just told him I want to help the Trynnie and (ii) Sgt. Rubble just after I've been cleared to attempt the Umpani obstacle course. In those instances, it's no more than a few seconds, although interestingly, the NPC involved takes a step away, "magically" reappears right next to me, and then steps away again for good. Any thoughts?
BTW -- I have started a new party, and as a "reward" for all of you who have been so helpful, I will post later today in a new topic with how things have been going. |
Sounds like you might have some video issues. What Vid card do you use and what settings did you select in the Wiz8 setup utility for the video? Oh yeah, and which version of Directx are you running?
Do you also notice occassionally when traveling that sections of the map will go white? Usually on the peripheral. |
