damn the gauths.... i can't even find the other part of the rod
should i find it before fighting the beholder or do i get it AFTER i kill it ?? poke poke poke |
Okay I assume you have the part of the rod you get from the diseased one's temple. You can't kill the unseeing eye without the completed rod. Are you in the unseeing eye's pit (where you go down past the ghoul town)? Okay the other bit of the rod is on the far right hand side, in a container. Once you get it the rod will complete itself then when you leave the room the unseeing eye will appear.

You will have to fight some, but you can avoid most of the fights in that dungeon and get the other half.
You have to fight a couple right away. After you kill them go clockwise around the big circle that makes up the dungeon. Don't deviate from the path. In the SE corner they is an inlet that you go in. Might be a gauth in there or on the way over. If you can go invisible or HiS, you can avoid some battles. In the pond or pore or whatever is in the middle of that inlet is the other half. It becomes the rod, immediately equip it in your quick slot. Click on it cause as you leave the Uber Eye appears. Click it on him and it should take him down to near death(it did for me). Go poke him in the eye to finish him. Go left and there are some stairs to take you out if you don't want to fight the big bad floating eyes anymore. :D |
You can kill the unseeing eye without the rod...it sure does make it easy though.

Beholders are indeed a challenging foe. But there is a way to kill them that is SO easy, its almost unfair. Get your rep up, the Ring of Human Influence, and download the bonus merchants (if you don't have them).
Then go to the Adventurer's Mart, and from Deidre purchase the Shield of Balduran. Equip it on your lead character, and simply walk through areas with Beholders. They will kill themselves nearly instantly! The only spot in the Unseeing Eye area to worry about is the Blind Priests in the centre, but they're a pushover with a Cloudkill or two. The Unseeing Eye himself is a mage, and has no eye attacks, so you can use standard anti-mage tactics (you can kill him without the rod, but it takes longer), or the rod and a thrown rock... ;) |
OR you can go to the Sahuagin City first before you do the Eye Quest and get the Cloak of Mirrowing, after you do that and all the other stuff , just go back to the unseeing eye and put the cloak on your best tank, along with Boots of speed and send him.her alone to whack ALL beholder Kin, >>>>>>>>W/O a scratch
