where the hell is rafe i have a guide which says he is through a metal mesh door across from the flame cage but i cant find it in this area i have already disarmed the lava pit and gotten the goodies from there but can find no other places in this area anyone got any ideas as to what i may be doing wrong

when you enter the rapax rift (from mountain wildernesse), turn left instead of right.

eh, the area there is a big circle. You can get to everything there if you go right. Just go down the steep slope where you can see some Rapax standing in front of a gate, after you've passed the 3 non-Rafe prisoners and the hanging bridge. Immediately after going through that gate, Rafe is up to your right. This is where you have to wait and watch the lava lord come to check out who's for lunch.

yeah I think you have go climb the slope and unlock the gate from the other side first

no, the levers to operate the monster-lock are between the gates and on the side where the guards are.
