Following the discussions here about what might be the worst solo chararcer I have now tried all three of them: lizzie bishop, faerie gadgy and faerie bard.

Lizzie bishop: After about four or five reloads he managed to kill the crabs on the beach. The slimes were a bit easier. But he couldn't get past the noxious slimes so now he is just waiting for low level monsters to be able to level up.

Faeries: didn't manage to kill the crabs (on normal) even after about ten reloads each, but I shall try again in the future. Any help and tips how to get past crabs and noxious slimes would be appreciated.

I'm curious to see how far you can get. I was thinking of trying a solo again. Keep us posted!

On expert,

Fairy Bard (+9 vit, +9 spd, +7 dex, 3 music, 3 staff, 3 close combat). Went inside to take care of the slimes first. slimes engage, I play my lute. 2 fall asleep, 1 charges, 1 dead slime. other two wake up, I melee a few turns, taking a pounding, decide it's time for another song. slimes don't like it ... one very tired and then one very dead fairy.

Fairy Gadgeteer (+7 vit, +7 spd, +6 dex, 3 engr, 3 range combat, 3 mod weap). crept up near the beach crabs, succeeded in grabbing pile of stone. head inside to face the slimes. spot them at the top of the ramp, I engage, back up into corner and fire some shots. all shots miss wildly. slimes close, I dispatch one with fairy stick. the other two don't take too kindly to this and clobber me. another dead fairy.

I've only had a couple Solo's make it all the way through on Expert, and the one i went with Iron Mode was Normal.

I have one save with a solo human rogue waiting in Arnika at lvl 2...
I did a lot of training with this char, but I can start from this point for all solo`s...
As a rogue it`s easy to get to Arnika, even on lvl 2 and expert difficulty.
Now I have a char with stealth 100 and lockpick 20 ready to change to any profession I like (exp for 7-8 lvls)... he can even change to a bishop next lvl (even distribution of points). This makes solo`s real fun (hard to play a magic char from the start).

I tried all: bard and alchemist are the easiest, fighter and rogue hardest (no protection against magic).
One advice for all solo`s, especially for magic users: raise PIETY first = more stamina + IRON WILL

Update on the lizzie bishop: he smashed his way through the crabs on the beach. Went into the monastery met a group of rats and the slimes who first killed him, but then he got through them. He now only needed 37 points to get out of apprenticeship. :D After a few reloads the noxious slimes were down and he was down to 31 points.

Faerie bard: the three crabs on the beach fell asleep and were meleed down one by one. Couldn't get past the slimes.

Faerie gadgy: still waiting to get past the crabs. Managed to grab the stones, but now the crabs are behind the door which is closed and she is inside.

If you squeeze between the boulder right of the door it's easy to only fight one at a time. You can lure thse slimes as well as the crabs there. You must face to the door though, from the other side I had the trouble come from behind ;)

you can also funnel them at the open door, from either side.

Minor update: I got past the crabs and the slimes with all three characters. Took about fifty reloads... I took on after that only easier encounters, leveled up five times with each of them and tried Gregor. Spectacularly failed with all of the characters. So now I am giving up.

Just a few observations. Out of the three I found that the lizzie bishop was the worst, because he did not have any spells because of apprenticeship and his melee skills weren't spectacular either. Both of the faeries had a "strong" point. For the bard it was the poet's lute, and for the gadgy it was the omnigun. The lute was essential in getting past any non-slime opponents and the omnigun just let the gadgy take down opponents from afar before shamelessly running from combat.

It wasn't a pleasant experience trying out all of these characters, but i must say that I have learned several useful things from it. I have started a solo hobbit rogue, who so far has provided much more enjoyment. I'm doing him wihout any special training. he is now in Arnika, he got past Gregor at level 4, got to Arnika at lvl 6.
