Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a good start into 2004.

Now my questions:

First : In my current game I visited Balbrack the first time to join the I.U.F. I ask him about "Change" and he gave me the information of the Chaos Moliri. After I asked him about "Chaos Moliri" he told me something like : Now that we have it on our side, keep it quiet, Private ......." . Strange, up to now I didn't visit the T'Rang and without Mook quest I cannot get it, so what happened ? A Bug ?

Second : I'm trying to avoid the Obstacle Course. Pvt. Sparkle said when hired : .... and let me remind you that I'm ALREADY a whole private in the I.U.F. Up to now I haven't fount out what that means. I cannot buy from Kunar without joining even with Sparkle in my party. I cannot avoid the Course and I wonder why "already" is written in capital letters. Am I a little bit crazy or is there a meaning behind that ?

Greetings

First: I'm presuming that is a bug. Or maybe the developers assumed the player would already have obtained it before you asked about it.

Second: As far as I know, private is the lowest military rank, at least in the USA, although I'm from the UK so I dunno about internationally.. but either way, private is the lowest rank in this game for the IUF, and I think Private Sparkle is just a little too enthusiastic. You can't avoid the course as it's part of the Umpani quest line. Why are you so eager to avoid it anyway?

Hi Ben Lauritson,

that's simple. ( First I must say I finished W8 severel times now ). I couldn't find out, what's the rhythm of the spikes of the course. I tried walking , running and often it works. I often thought : That's it ! And the next try (I made it the same way) I got chopped into pieces.
I read the tips in this forum about the Obstacle Course, but all hints sometimes worked and sometimes failed.
I do not reload crushed parties ( it's part of my gamestyle ) so a way around the spikes would make gameplay with my newer parties easier. And, of course, after so many month with this game, I sometimes try solutions that I never thought of before.
(F.e. Has anyone tried the pulse pick at the computers in the monastery ??)

Thanks for your info.

I found that a rather easy way to do the obtacle course is:

After managing to get in you just run and that will get you past the cutting blades and after that you just have to walk, and fight an easy fight against those dummies.

Hi dplax,

I tried that several times, too. But last weekend this failed and my party has crushed.
Where do you have to start running ? I walk close to the first spikes, when they are down I start running. ( I believe, that has a 80:20 chance to get through them. But, as mentioned above , it failed last weekend .
If anyone could give me a 100 % tip to get through them, I would be very happy.

This is the only problem in the game, that drives me crazy (from the first party I created)

All I ever do is just run right up to the spikes when they're down, then as soon as they start retracting upwards I just run forward, with no chance (seemingly) of getting crushed.

Loudhy:

As soon as the person who starts speaking to me moves out of the way in the door I start running, and in my experience I never got crushed.

I time it so that I rin into the first spikes when they are down and run through the rest ASAP.

i do what zig does.

however, you have to do it towards the centre of the hallway because it curves around. if you try it on the left-hand side, the gaps are too far and you get crushed at the last one, and if you are on the right-hand side, you have to turn while running, which might lead to over-correction meaning you dont quite make it

maybe i'm just not coordinated enough to pull it off, but staying to the centre is what works for me! ;)
