I just got to chapter 5 and it's really diffcult for me, even on easiest setting. My party keep getting held, charmed, and turned into stone. Dispel spell doesn't work as well. From a game guide they told me to use the freedom spell somewhere, but it's a level 9 spell! I can't use it yet. Any suggestions?

you can buy freedom scrolls and use them as scrolls (put in quick item slot) rather than learning them.

What fights are you specifically having problems with? Or is it just all the little encounters?
Telling us your party makeup and what tactics you have tried would be helpful, so people can suggest definite strategies, instead of generalized tips. |
Freedom for flesh-to-stone is overkill. use stone-to-flesh instead, its cheaper and clerics get it.
the others will wear off, given time |
You probably don't have a dwarven warrior that is your problem.

The answer to your problem is to have a cleric (or three, like I have They can cast stone to flesh, as well as chaotic commands, which will protect you against any enchantment spells (Charm, sleep, domination, hold person, confusion, chaos, etc etc). Use an invisible scout to find out where enemy mages are hiding out and cast chaotic commands on every member of your party before combat with them.
