what are the funnest solo/multi classed characters that you all have come up with?

I can't answer that, except to say a solo is hard, but achievable as far as I can tell. Will let you knw if my solo survives to the end. And welcome, Brian. Hope you dip in to the deep waters like we do.

tried it once and didn't like it - too much work! (fighter 1, bard 18, ninja 2, ranger 9-10; Mook).

I just got my Solo #4 to the end of the game. She was a Bard for 16 levels with one break for Stealth (Rogue) and then Fighter up to the End (Char level 28) Interesting thing, how little magic you can make it through with--just about the only thing she played for more than half the game was just to keep Magic Screen up. No need to scream about having all the buffs, she did just fine "naturally". Even experimented a little, killing El D with ExCal and Al-S with Mauler/DE. (then later i got a Light and everything was cake from there)
The funnest part of Soloing for me is that Insanity and Turncoat cause no trouble...
