just wondering but has anyone ever killed mad marten? better yet mad marten on hard? if so what party did u do it with and what lvls were they?

i tryed with this party

i almost did but he is WAY too hard, even on novice let alone hard.

since he is a ghost its really tough to hit. he also has extreme magic resistace. plus his spells are something to worry about as well. and unless you equip the helm and give somebody the DD (just go to trade and equip it by right clicking on a character from there.) they will be insane. so i was close.

i typically leave marten til last, just before going to AP, since i dont like to wear the helm (too many better choices). as such, with parties in the low 20's, i've found marten to be a pretty easy kill.

however, i've never used a magic heavy party for this purpose - only melee heavy or balanced parties. two recent ones were a fighter, lord, valkyrie, bard, bishop party, and the ninja, monk, rogue party.

i've never gotten anything from marten other than death shroud and a few hundred thousand experience. and the only way to attack him is by engaging during the conversation, so he wont give you the sea caves key to let you use the shortcut out. it's not a long walk, but it can be tedious, so killing marten is, imo, of dubious value.

not to worry! you have a rouge so you can swipe the key off him!

sorry, rez, ever since i installed the patch i've completely given up on pp'ing, so no joy there.

I've killed MM on solo twice, because he won't give up the DD unless you got the Helm. (In solos i Portal myself to AP with the DD and Restore myself when i've placed the DD--or else i kill Crock).
Around L20, he's not very hard, esp as one of the ones had Light and the other had the Cane...
