The runes in the cemetary and wilderness were easy to spot, and the items to access then seemed totally random ( like they were just picked out of a hat). I would have liked at least one of the dungeons to have some crazy/ mindbending/ institutionalizing riddle to access it.

you could still get the answer from the Internet

I miss the riddles, too. But some have pointed out it would not be fair to those who aren't proficient in English. As has been stated, the riddles would have to be internal, that is, all clues should pertain to the game and its plot/characters. This would make it generalized enough even for those with Eng as a 2nd language.
That this game doesn't have riddles doesn't take away from it, that was a style choice. And some of us forget how hard some of the side quests are if you haven't solved them before. Still, I would like to see more logic puzzles. |

what I meant was if you get stuck you could always come to this forum, or somewhere else and find the answer. I myself always try d things in rpgs without help, but if it is hopeless i have to resort to other means

For those of us that have played the previous games, we ALL miss the riddles. That was one of the reasons that Crusaders was such a good game (that and a bigger world with more realism). Wiz8 riddles, few, only few, and most of them are for optional things, such as the fountain in Trynton. My favorite part of the game that got you thinking was in the SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! was in the rapax rift, where you had to make another avalanche. I was stuck for days until I decided to look up and figure it out...

I liked those riddles in the older games too (well most of them). Remember in Bane, there was a draw bridge that the instructions were written in engineering language. Wow it took me like 2 weeks to get past that. In Wiz 7, How about the riddle to (i think the entrance to the hall of gorrors?) I must have spent 6 monthes looking for that wand.

Yeh, that thing (bridge) was at the end of the Dwarf Mines. It makes me change my mind about trying that game again!!! Maybe. A hard game but fun.

Never played Bane to be honest, but I heard some good things. And also, I never finished Crusaders, did the Gorn Castle, New City, Upkyr, a lot and then frothing munks in the Sunken Cathedral diseased my guy and I had saved, then he kept turning to stone...

I got stuck in the rift for a long time also, before I looked up the answer
