Hello! this is my first post! I've always found out what I needed to know with search up to now - so thanks for that everyone! Right now though I'm trying to be a double agent for the umpani and t'rang, but I've gone and killed the mooks in Arnika and stolen the Chaos Moliri BEFORE I'd got the alliance offer letter from the Umpani. Am I stuffed? Do I need to go back? Will I lose out on some major XP?? Help?

that's a new one to me. i know that to complete the trang quests you can use the chaos moliri itself (ie - you dont need the letter), but for the umpani i thought you had to have the letter.

completing all but the *last* quest for each leads to an interesting plot opportunity (and boatload of experience), so it's quite possible you have locked yourself out of that. but the truth is i dont know for sure.

a quick search of posts turns up nothing, so i'm wondering if you've uncovered something entirely new here! perhaps keep an old save and play this through and report back to us?

There is a good chance you stuffed it, as both the Umpanis and Trangs give you a quest involving the Mooks before they give you their next quests. It would be a pity to go through alot of effort to find out you missed out on the big XP payoffs. On the other hand, you can still finish the game without these side quests. If have not played though a game yet, you will need guidance on how to finish it since some of these quests tell you what to get and where.

I can't believe you guys replied so quickly! Many thanks... mind you it looks like I've done something no-one else has been dumb enough to do :( , but that is a habit of mine!! Looks like I'd better go back a bit. Not sure if I want to play it through from here as well as I'm a bit fed up of being attacked by things every 5 seconds as it is - I'm more of a finding loads of cool stuff and exploring kind of gal - too much combat leaves me drained (like my fighter often is). And since you like Tally ho, how about lickety split, jolly hockey sticks, Bob's your uncle, down the hatch and bottom's up!! love Limey/Pom x

Hard to say if the alliance is screwed or not. It's a matter of saving both Rodan and Drazic and bringing them home. You may be able to do that regardless of having scotched the Umpani quest line (yeah, that one is dead since you can't give the letter to the Mooks). However, I don't know for sure.

By the way, it's possible to obtain the Chaos Moliri without having to fight the Mooks.

Jelly, you may want to restore the old game and build up in Arnika. You will always find battles in this game, but you can learn strategies to find a good place to fight or run...most of the time. Also, I found that the game is very dependendent on your party skills. And some parties are better than others inherently. Who do you have?

Also, have not heard of "Bob's your Uncle". Is this a nonsequitur or does it have real meaning?

thanks guys... well this is my first time through... my brother lent me the game and "forgot" to give me the booklet that came with it so my party is probably a bit useless cos I didn't know what I was doing AT ALL!! (though I have played Might and Magic 6,7,8 and 9 (wasn't 9 awful?) and Wizards and Warriors so i ought to know a bit about RPGs by now. I have an elf mage, a draco bishop, gnome rogue, lizardman fighter, hobbit ranger and human valkyrie, with Madras and Vi domina (whom I've changed to a priest). It seems a good party, just would have been good to know how the XP worked when I started as i took ages to get any decent spells! Hey ho. Hey Zig, you connoiseur of English idioms! [img]smile.gif[/img] Bob's your uncle is something we say meaning "and there you have it" e.g. take both the letters, deliver them to the mook in Arnika, and Bob's your uncle!

Yeah, the more you post, the sooner you get promoted to something else (like dragons ;) .

Interesting party composition. Would never have thought of a Dracon bishop myself. However, since you made it to Arnika with this bunch, I'd say stick with them for the rest of the game.
