I believe you have hit the rpc missing bug. try going to an earlier save.

I've run into this problem on one game i played. I was in the mine tunnels and dropped Vi for Tantris (this was the only game i took Tantris). Vi disappeared, Myles disappered, Sparkle disappeared (no loss there), Madras disappeared, and Saxx disappeared. I started a new game and Vi disappeared the first time i dismissed her. In the end wound up reinstalling the game. Since then i've had no problems, but i can assure you i will never take Tantris again.

LOL, everyone hates Tantris. But Tinker, this should make you happy. If you dismiss him, he disappears forever.

Tantris will show back up in Upper Marten's Bluff by the Rapax Trap/Elevator to Lower Marten's Bluff. He does not show back up were you found him in the Mine Tunnels.
