Can I play this game in a window (so I can switch between programs)
or do I have to exit the game every time? (Win98)
P.S. Isn't it amazing how many different emotions one can express with
just a simple happy face.

I don't think there's a windowed option; there's nothing on the Video options pages, and the standard windowed/full screen toggle (Alt+Enter) doesn't do anything. However, not being able to run in a window has nothing to do with the ability to switch to other apps; that works just fine (although, unlike some (most?) other games, Wiz8 continues to play its music & ambient sounds even when it's not the foreground app).

Could you tell me how to do that?

Finallllly! A question I can answer.
In Windows the ALT-TAB key combination switches between active programs. I often have a few aids open (like notepad-to take notes, natch)while I'm playing Wizardry or for that matter any role-playing or adventure game. If Wiz is the only live program this key combo will bring u back to the windows desktop.
