I am getting an error message:
Developers message Debug assertion in module e:\wizardry 8\local screens/pleasewaitscreen.cpp line 292 failed. If there is anyone with an insight on how to fix this problem could you let me know. Thanks Diane |
That is difficult to answer based on the information...
First, it installed correctly? Ok, well, try the patch. I had a friend who couldnt open the set up screen until he had patched it. Where exactly does it crash? Do you see bink videos and the sir tech thing? I can tell you straight up, find the folder where the bink videos are and rename it. There are many many computers that crash showing bink videos including mine. Not in w8s case but in other games. The game opens in the order of showing the sir tech, then a bink video of mooks and such, if thats where its crashing for you thats your problem. Give me some more data i might be able to help you more. |
For what it matters, my wizardry 8 folder has no such folder called 'local screens' which is what you related to me? I do have the patched version however, and perhaps that is something it eliminates? Your guess is as good as mine. The newest patch is called 1.2.4

I can get as far as creating a party and choosing them. When I click on the check to start it goes to the screen waiting to load then it's back to the desktop.
